Parque Kabah is a very busy place for families during their holiday in Cancun. This huge ecological park covers 39 hectares of land and allows visitors to get in touch with the nature through jungle vegetation.

There is a small zoo at this park with all different animals such as

  • Talking parrots.

Parque Kabah has a playground, pond, regular workshops and plenty of walking trails.

Iglesia de Cristo Rey is one of the most popular sites to visit in Cancun in Mexico. This small church hosts several open-air masses throughout the week which are given in both Spanish and English, catering to the locals as well as tourists.

There are various beautiful statues to be found inside and outside the church, so don’t forget to bring your camera.

El Rey Ruins are where the past meets the present in the centre of Cancun’s large hotel zone. This archaeology site provides information about each part of this beautiful site in both Spanish and English. Aswell as there being ruins this site is also home to a number of large iguanas which you can feed if you bring fruit & veg.

The entrance price for adults is affordable and children go free.This archaeology site is a good trip for a families looking for an intresting day out.

El Rey Ruins has 47 structures which are estimated to have been inhabited by the mayans as early as the 900 AD.

El Rey was named fo the ceremonial mask and skulls found on this archaeology site to honor the mayan sun god.

The ruins are not that large in size but it is a great place to get some pictures of the popular iguanas, The Igauanas class these runins as there home and there are numarous amounts of them.

These animals are well looked after and they are unafraid of humans due to them being well-fed with tortilla’s.

These ruins are open from 8 AM – 5 PM everyday.

Adults cost 37 peso’s and children go free.

Parroquia de Cristo Resucitado is an open-air church just a short distance away from the hotel zone in Cancun. Easily reached by bus or taxi, this chapel takes you back to the time when there was only Latin mass, with an impressive alter overlooked by a painting of Jesus and one of Our Lady of Guadalupe. There are eight Spanish masses held on Sundays, as well as English confessions from 8am until 9am, followed by an English mass at 9am on the same day. Throughout the week you’ll find a number of locals outside the church selling a selection of homemade Mexican delicacies.

Here you’ll find a vast array of shops, boutiques and small kiosks selling everything from handicrafts and artwork to local produce and clothes. A fusion of historical sites and shopping district, Avenida Tulum features a number of interesting ruins, as well as a vast array of shops selling a variety of items. Haggling is expected by the locals, so search around before you buy – never buy the first thing you see for the first price. History buffs won’t want to miss the chance to visit the Mayan Museum. Here you’ll find loads of exhibits and displays full of artefacts, alongside descriptions written in both Spanish and English. Outside the museum you’ll find a genuine excavation of an ancient village and a small pyramid. Tequila Herradura Sensorial Museum is the perfect place for foodies to spend an hour or two. This interesting museum details the traditional methods of making tequila and shows you just how complicated it is. You’ll also be able to find out the history and legacy of Hacienda San Jose del Refugio at Amatla, as well as indulge in some tequila tasting.

The beach bars play music in the late afternoon until the early morning, creating a lively party atmosphere.

Surrounded by a great choice of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, Playa Tortugas is a top pick amongst families and couples who want to be close to many amenities and services. This pale sandy beach meets deep water, suitable for confident adult swimmers, although there are some shallow child-friendly spots, too. Families won’t want to miss the chance to visit Playa Las Perlas. Packed with facilities and services, this beach offers sun bed and parasol hire, parking, volleyball court, picnic areas, bars, restaurants, lifeguards and water sports. Here children can safely enjoy the gentle, clear waters, which hardly ever feature waves, or have fun building sandcastles in the pale sand.

Water sports

One of the most popular beaches in Cancun, Playa Linda is a must-visit for water sport enthusiasts. At this white sandy beach you’ll find a top selection of amenities and services, including sun beds and parasol hire, bars, restaurants, changing rooms and toilets. The list of water sports is extensive and includes jet skiing, kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving and boat hire.

Known for its beautiful views and fantastic sunbathing opportunities, Playa Marlin is also a top location for water sports. Like many of the beaches in the resort, Playa Marlin provides visitors with plenty of room in which to relax and medium-sized waves which are great for splashing about in. Although there are no facilities to speak of, Playa Marlin is one of the best places in Cancun, Mexico to try parasailing, sail boarding and body boarding.

Another wonderful choice for those who want to try their hand at water sports, Playa Caracol is generally very crowded, but a short walk to the west will bring you to a much quieter section of the beach. Surf’s up

Toward the east of Cancun, Mexico, you’ll find a number of beaches with higher waves, creating the ideal conditions for surfing. Playa Delfines is one of these beaches and is popular with surfers and body boarders alike who take advantage of the breezy conditions. The rough currents make this beach unsuitable for general swimming and although there are very limited beachside facilities, there are some stone benches which are perfect for sunbathing on and people watching.

Popular amongst tourists and locals alike, Playa Gaviota Azul is regularly frequented by surfers and body boarders who make good use of the large waves. The strong undercurrents make this beach a dangerous place for swimming, but the soft white sands create the perfect conditions for sun worshippers. You’ll find a number of facilities available here, including sun loungers, shades, lifeguards, sports activities, bars and restaurants.

Found in the heart of the hotel zone, Playa Chac Mool is split into two sections – miles of soft sand in the south and interesting rocks and caves in the north. At this beach you’ll find large, rough waves which create fantastic surfing conditions where you can enjoy hours of fun. There is also a handful of amenities for visitors to enjoy, such as sun shade and lounger hire, bars, restaurants, lifeguards and water sports.

Secluded

If you’d like to avoid the hustle and bustle of the tourist resorts, consider spending the day at Playa Punta Nizuc. One of the most secluded bays in the area, Playa Punta Nizuc is found on the southern tip of the resort, where waves are almost non-existent, making it a great place to take a dip. Thanks to the offshore reef full of diverse marine life and submerged sculptures, this beach is also a popular spot for diving and snorkelling, although because there are no services or facilities onsite, it’s best to bring your own sun lounger, parasol, snacks and drinks.
